The first of each month you will get a news letter that is part of the curriculum that is designed to give parents great information regarding the educational development of small children. This year we are going to TRY and post more video’s and pictures (no faces showing) on our Facebook page of all ages doing fun hands on learning.

Toddler and Two’s

This school year we will be using the Frog Street Toddler curriculum in our toddler/two’s class. If you would like to look into this curriculum more you can do so at the web site http://www.frogstreet.com/curriculum/toddler/

The first of each month you will get a calendar that will give you a small idea of what they will be learning and talking about that month. Please understand there is no way we can put everything they are doing on one sheet of paper. However, they have a lesson / activity in each of the following five area each day.

Music & Movement – during this time they will be working on memorization of songs and rhymes. This is also the early stages of reading. They will also work on muscle development as well as coronation, by doing simple things like rolling a ball back and forth to each other or jumping / hopping.

Language – This will include stories being read to the class. Reading is one of the most important things parents can do with children of all ages to help them succeed in school. Talking to in “big” voices (not baby talking) is extremely important for language development as well.

Socialization – At this age is one on one play begins and learning to work / play in a social setting is very important for many reasons.

Cognitive & Math – Working on puzzles is actually a math activate & also allows kids to work on hand eye coronation. So, buy the puzzles despite the pieces being all over. In this age group they will work on counting 1-10 as well. This area can also include things like looking at pictures and naming the people and things in the pictures.

This class is busy and each day is so very different from the day before. Here at TTP we do our absolute best to start the steps towards a successful formal education. This year we are going to TRY and post more video’s and pictures (no faces showing) on our Facebook page of all ages doing fun hands on learning.

3’s

For this school year we will be using scholastics curriculum in our 3-year-old class. You can find more information about this curriculum online at http://teacher.scholastic.com/products/early-learning-program/big-day-for-prekindergarten-curriculum.htm

The first of each month you will get a calendar that will give you a small idea of what they will be learning and talking about that month. Please understand there is no way we can put everything they are doing on one sheet of paper. However, they have a lesson / activity in each of the following area each day.

Reading – children being read to is majorly important and makes massive difference in how they do in school.

Writing – these activities will be things to help promote hand development. Truly writing aka what most thing of as writing is not age appropriate for children this age. The best thing to do to help children develop the motor skills need for good handwriting later is playing with playdoh and using safety scissors. Scary for some but definitely important.

Math – at this age we are counting items one on one. Recognizing numbers 1-10 but counting to 100. They work on counting by counting the days of school each day. They will start with one and count from 1 until ____ the last day of the 2020-21 school year. We will have a 100th day of school celebration.

Science & Health – during this time they will talk / learn about many things. Such has how plants grow or how bugs grow, or what is living and what is manmade, discover how things go from liquids to solids, and so much more. This also can include cook activities.

Social Studies – this time is a wide verity of talking & learning as well. They may learn about different jobs. The environment such as what some homes look like in other countries or even states.

Social & emotional development – this is when they will learn about sharing, using words to tell others what they want / need, interacting with other, and so much more.

Oral Language – This is done all day. One example is after reading a story talking about the story, who did what and what happened first, in the middle, or at the end of the story. Even talking about what they did on vacation or about their pets or siblings at home. Just giving them all chances to talk and tell stories.

Physical Development – This is why playing outside and running, jumping, hopping, and so on come into play. As well as dancing in the classroom to some great children’s music.

Art – there favorite time and they love showing you what they create. When they show you their art it is a great time to work on oral language. Ask them to tell you about what they created you might be shocked at wheat they tell you.

As you can see the calendar is just a very small glimpse into what they are doing each day while they are here. If you have not “liked” us on Facebook be sure you do. This year we are going to TRY and post more video’s and pictures (no faces showing) on our Facebook page of all ages doing fun hands on learning.
